The WPT Action Clock:
On the
World Poker Tour webpage, there is a poll that asks, "Would you like to see the WPT Action Clock in more World Poker Tour events?"
There are three choices: "Yes, in every event," "No, never again," and "Yes, only in specials."
As of right now 57% have answered "No, never again." 31% want to see it more, and 12% want to see the Action Clock only in specials.
This is interesting. My guess is that it is because poker afficianados are more likely to disapprove of any change in the game, and disproportionately comprise the audience that visits the WPT website.
So the poll probably doesn't tell us much about whether poker novices like the Action Clock or not. I personally don't like the Action Clock, but if novices like it, then I'm okay with it staying. If the Action Clock makes it more exciting for non-players, and thus more likely to start playing poker, then the Action Clock is a good thing.
